What is a cookie?
Most websites use cookies; small text files that are stored on a user's web browser. The cookie is set by
request by a web server to a web browser. Only the web server that sent the cookie can access it again when a user
returns to a website associated with that web server.
Cookies can help to remember the preferences of the user.
Many webpages have adverts which are often from other webservers and so are the (third party) cookies from those adverts.
A cookie is entirely 'passive' and does not contain software programmes, a virus or spyware. They have a fixed life-time.

Contribute to the Seed AtlasIn the present Digital Seed Atlas we still miss the pictures of a few plant species. When you happen to have material (seeds/fruits) of these species we would appreciate it very much when you could send this to us. We will than take the photographs and thus update the Atlas by inserting pictures of the missing species.
A list of missing Dutch species can be
viewed and printed here.
